Remote Arrangement Relay
For remote bands that cannot rehearse at the same time, this workspace assigns arrangements by song section and uses temporary transition tracks so every handoff can be heard in full context.
When a remote band is trying to move a song forward, the hardest part is often not recording a track—it is waiting for everyone to come online at once. The project lead uploads a rough arrangement, marks the tempo, key, verses that must remain, and an eight-bar bridge to outsource, then assigns drum, bass, or vocal passages to different members.
When it is a member’s turn, the workspace generates a temporary transition track from the material already delivered, so they can hear how their passage relates to the full song. After the bassist records, the drummer opens the same version and does not have to guess how much space the previous member left. Temporary tracks are only for auditioning and are replaced once a member submits the formal material.
The project page retains branches, audition versions, and submitters for every passage. The lead can compare two choruses or different drum patterns, then assemble the selected versions into the mainline. If someone changes the tempo or key, affected passages are flagged for re-auditioning, preventing the team from discovering at final export that everyone recorded against different project settings.
The first version supports fixed-tempo WAV tracks and bar-based assignment, suited to a song completed in relay by two or three people. It uses a new generation of browser-based audio workstations to create replaceable transition material; it does not try to write the band’s entire song or overwrite members' original recordings.
Why now

Target user
The core users are remote bands of two or three people, along with ad hoc groups of recording musicians. The tool is most valuable when a song already has a rough arrangement but someone can never join rehearsal at the same time. Members may each own only a drum, bass, or vocal passage, yet need to hear its full surrounding context. The project lead also needs to choose among multiple deliveries and ensure that everyone records to the same tempo and key.
Minimal entry point
The first release is limited to fixed-tempo WAV projects and assigns work by bar number. In the browser, the Web Audio API handles decoding, alignment, looped auditioning, and basic mixing. Each submission is recorded in an immutable version manifest, while the mainline stores only references to selected clips. Temporary transition tracks can be generated through Stable Audio’s asynchronous audio-to-audio API and added back to audition versions when ready. S2 Generate with a small amount of context on either side, then trim the result back to the target bars. Original recordings are always stored separately, and temporary tracks are prominently labeled. A tempo or key change flags only dependent passages; it never automatically rewrites member recordings.
Punching above its weight
Find the first users in remote-band, online cover-group, and freelance musician communities. Use an authorized demo song to show how, after a bass delivery, the drummer can immediately take over. Inviting bands to test the product with a real project that has stalled will be more effective than showing an empty workspace. Exported handoff audition pages can carry a product credit, so every link sent to a bandmate naturally introduces the next user.

By making passage dependencies, candidate branches, and re-audition alerts clear, the product can avoid competing head-on with general online DAWs on feature count.
How it makes money
Charge a subscription per band workspace, with plans capped by active songs and cloud audio storage. Temporary transition tracks consume generation credits; uploads, playback, and version comparison for final recordings do not.
The case against
Generated transition tracks may miss bar boundaries or suggest misleading harmonic movement. If later contributors treat a placeholder as settled arrangement, they may record formal material around the wrong context. Generation delays, usage costs, and retry failures can also interrupt what should be a short handoff. Some hosted APIs prohibit uploads of copyrighted audio, which may prevent real band projects from being used directly. S2 Browser recording also varies with audio hardware, latency, and devices. WAV storage and transfer costs can rise quickly as versions accumulate. Unless the product clearly distinguishes original recordings, candidate versions, and temporary tracks, members will quickly return to cloud drives and chat apps.
