After memory prices surged over a single year, small cloud providers and operators of self-managed data centers may not be able to source reliable new modules quickly. Plenty of memory is available from upgrade projects and decommissioned servers, but buyers cannot confirm compatibility and have little reason to trust a vague part number or a seller’s claim that it works.

Sellers run a lightweight agent on servers scheduled for retirement. The agent reads the memory model, capacity, runtime, and error-correction records, then runs a standardized stress test.
